I was looking forward to play PR 1.6, but unfortunately I encountered some trouble.
I am using Windows 10 and the last version of PR was running fine. Today I updated PR without any trouble. However, when starting it, it asked me to sign in through steam. When I clicked on the sign in button, it said "Checking for updates", "Please check your browser" and I obtained the following error:
"An unhandled exception has occured. Details are as follows:
Das System kann die angegebene Datei nicht finden
Further details can be found in the following file:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Project Reality\Project Reality BF2\mods\pr\bin\PRLauncher.log
Please report this error to the Project Reality Team, and include the log file in your report.

I appended the log file at the end of my post. Interestingly, when pressing the link "Visit Support Forum", I obtain the same critical error again.
Something similar happened, when I pressed the "help" instead of "sign in through steam", I ended up with the same result. The "options" button and "play offline" seem to work.
So here I am hoping that someone can help me.

I solved the problem. I didn't have the Admin rights in my Windows Account. In case you run into a similar problem: Start the launcher manually by choosing "run as admin". That solves this problem.
